Puerto bets on new markets
Tourism chiefs in Puerto de la Cruz say they will actively look for new markets in 2014 without neglecting their loyal visitors.
A group of Russian journalists from Moscow and St. Petersburg recently visited the town to see and hear about all the improvements being made. They also visited heritage and scenic attractions and were able to taste the food, particularly linked to the Atlantic.
The visit followed on from a similar visit by a group of German travel agents who were told about the plans of the Puerto consortium behind the rehabilitation campaign.
Tourism councillor, Carmen Dolores Padilla said Puerto was seeing a significant increase in visitors and it was hoped to open new markets, whilst never forgetting about the traditional ones, such as Britain and Germany.
One priority was to improve the knowledge of tour operators and travel agents who sold Puerto in their home countries.
