Warning over pop concert tickets
Spanish police have issued a warning to anyone purchasing pop concert tickets to be absolutely sure of their authenticity.
The alert follows the arrest of four people on the mainland, all Spanish and aged between 19 and 32, for a scam involving manufacture of false tickets and their sale over the internet. When homes were searched in Córdoba, they found admission tickets already waiting to be sold for concerts by a well-known boy band in the summer of 2014.
Police say this criminal activity is also seriously dangerous because it could mean substantial over-crowding at concerts and crowd safety, as well as defrauding authentic selling agents.
The gang had apparently purchased original tickets for concerts and then copied them and sold them on the net. Various printing equipment was seized and computer records showed multiply entries to do with pop concerts in Madrid.
Ticket purchases are advised to check with agents if they have any doubts about authen-ticity and to carefully look at their quality, water-marks, bar code etc.
