Barranco chickens were poisoned
Police have warned anyone who deliberately poisoned wild fowl in Puerto de la Cruz will be prosecuted if caught.
Officers with the specialist nature squad, Seprona were called in after a barrage of complaints from local residents about dead chickens.
These were found dumped in San Antonio near the San Felipe barranco, with dozens of corpses appearing over a period of ten days. Local people raised the alert because of the terrible smell and the concern about infection.
Seprona launched an investigation to see how the birds died but it was almost certainly by poison which is an offence.
