Cutting out the red tape
The Canary Government is planning to cut out red tape to allow new businesses to open quickly.
In some cases, it can take weeks, months and even years to get the proper licences and permissions. Many establishments get fed up waiting and open in advance, only to fall foul of the absence of the correct paperwork at a later date.
Now, however, a change to the rules suggests a notification to the relevant town hall is all that will be needed. This does not apply to any bar or nightclub which involves music on the terraces.
The regional government says this will help to promote economic development and avoid bureaucratic delays.
