Update from Accion del Sol
It has been a very good week for adoptions with nine dogs starting new lives in Germany and five lucky dogs being re-homed here in Tenerife.
Nearly all the Guaza pups taken to the refuge have found new homes but let’s hope the dog catchers catch the females still at large before more unwanted puppies are born. Accion del Sol has had a large amount of abandoned puppies brought into the refuge. If only people would take responsibility and sterilise or castrate their beloved dogs.
Mo and Kim very kindly donated many useful items to the refuge including a dog transport box, sheets, blankets and many other items, all of which were very much appreciated. Thank goodness there are lovely kind-hearted people all willing to help the animals.
The Official College of Veterinarians of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has introduced an awareness campaign on the importance of microchipping your pet. The campaign has been broadcast on several television and social networking sites. If you want to see the campaign video released in different media, then you can access the school’s YouTube channel or the school’s Facebook page Veterinarians Tenerife. One gorgeous dog waiting for a new home is “Donald “. He is a three year old Labrador cross Rottweiler. He is a beautiful dog with a lovely nature. He needs a finca or place with space for him to run around. One of our volunteers walked him last week on the “Pamper a Pooch” day and he was perfectly behaved and loved being brushed and fussed over. Definitely a very loving dog.
The Director of Accion del Sol Marion Köpke De Gonzälez is always happy to show people around the refuge and answer any questions you may have. The refuge is situated at Poligono De Industrial Estate, Granadilla, Exit 51 on the TF1, directly next to ITER, the Parque Eolica where the windmills are. The refuge is open Monday – Friday 3pm-6pm so do pop down for a visit. The refuge has seen a large increase in dogs over the last few months so if you are looking for a dog to adopt, then please do pay the refuge a visit or call Accion del Sol on 922778630.
