New app for La Orotava’s charms
La Orotava is continuing its process of adapting to the times and new technologies for the benefit of residents and tourists.
The council has teamed up with the Canary history association, Fundoro to develop an information application for mobile phones and tablets. The guide to the municipality includes places of interest, cultural events and shopping areas and is available in English, Castilian and German.
It also features walks, popular festivals, accommodation, restaurants, transport and useful addresses.
Deputy Mayor and councillor for culture, Francisco Linares said this was a new, attractive and revolutionary product which he hoped people would find practical and important.
“It is comfortable and easy to use and the cost will be minimal,” he said.
Economic development councillor, Felipe David Benítez Pérez also welcomed the new app, saying it was a tourism innovation which would allow people to get to know La Orotava better so they could spend anything for a few hours to a few weeks in the municipality.
“La Orotava a Mano” is available on Google Android Play for only two euros and is expected soon to extend its availability to iOS for iPhones.
