Sign of the times

What a shame that the big tourist signs which recently went up across the island have to be taken down or some of them at least.

We have to admit that some of them are rather confusing though. We live near Los Cristianos and on the TF-1 there is (or was?) one of these big signs with a fantastic picture of Mount Teide. It did seem to suggest that it was nearby, rather than 50 kilometres or so away.

We thought the problem with these signs would be wear and tear, not confusion, as we had remarked about how long it would take before the pictures starting to peel off in the sunshine or if it rained.

Seems like this was a good idea which went badly wrong?
