Singing the praises of School of Music

Adeje’s School of Music is forging ahead with success stories.

Everyone involved was delighted to hear that student Luke John Towler won the Manchester Singing Festival, a victory which is opening up new opportunities.

The school has also announced that it is creating educational concerts for school children in the municipality. The main objective is to raise the profile of the School of Music and Dance (Escuela Municipal de Música y Danza), as well as bringing music direct to children.

Luke’s success in Manchester was praised by councillor responsible for EMMA, Adolfo Alonso who said: “We are very proud to know that young people being trained in our school are shining inside and outside the country. This great news gives us encouragement to continue doing activities that bring value to music and dance.”

The competition had started in the virtual world with participants having to submit a video on You Tube singing one of the songs of Australian artist, Cody Simpson who has been the opening act for Justin Bieber on his “Believe” tour.

A vote was taken, catapulting Luke into third place and when in Manchester, gaining the most audience votes to achieve victory.

Luke said it had been very emotional to win and it had been very rewarding. Hopefully, offers might well follow.

Sr. Alonso congratulated Luke and set he would said an example to the youth of the town who are currently attending the School of Music which is continuing to promote itself. Meetings have been held with schools about the concerts and pupils and staff have been invited on tours.

The three concerts include one for modern music, including keyboards, bass, guitar, drums, saxophone and voice. The second is called the carnival of animals which bring together instruments like the violin, flute, clarinet, cello, piano and incorporate dance.

The last concert will be a demonstration of tuba, trombone and piano. All include theory and practice.
