Arona launches green campaign
Aona residents are being urged to “go green” wherever possible.
The plea was made by the Mayor, Francisco José Niño who pledged that the municipality wanted to become environmentally-friendly but needed the help of residents and visitors.
They are being asked to use recycling containers in the right way and to always separate items such as bottles, paper, plastic and cardboard.
The Mayor said an awareness campaign would be launched with the aim of increasing recycling by at least five per cent per year and lowering garbage by two per cent. He took the opportunity to launch the new “Easy” container system which allows the driver of a vehicle to pick up waste containers with an electronic arm from within the cab.
