Puerto says “have courage”
Puerto de la Cruz would see enormous benefit if Los Rodeos had extended opening hours.
This is the view of the Mayor, Marcos Brito who has spoken out in support of the campaign and says “there are some decisions which have to be taken with courage”.
In an interview with Spanish newspaper, Diario de Avisos which is also reporting on support for an extra three hours at the north airport, Sr. Brito criticised the rejection by the airport authority AENA. He said it could be potentially harmful to Puerto de la Cruz as a tourist destination which at these difficult times needed solutions, not roadblocks.
Likewise, president of the CIT Puerto de la Cruz said he would welcome an extension because it would give more opportunities and create more flights which was very important for connectivity in the Canary Islands. He fully backed the Cabildo’s application.
Other organisations and councillors are also speaking out in favour of extended opening hours and urging AENA to have a serious rethink.
