Complaints about shooting range
The construction of a shooting range in Adeje is being challenged by a residents’ group.
The Friends Association in Defence of Ajabo claims planning laws have been violated, as well as those for protected areas.
It is also worried about the discharge of cartridges and used ammunition into a local canyon and its possible effects on the water supply.
The association has filed an official complaint with the Environment Protection Agency, claiming noise nuisance and environmental impact. Members say the land is in an area where only exceptional development should be allowed and they do not believe a proper case has been made for the shooting range which the Adeje council believes will become a major tourist attraction.
