Adeje backs global black-out

Adeje is to take part in a global “black-out” on March 26th as part of a pledge to the environment.

The Mayor, José Miguel Rodriguez Fraga has announc-ed support for “La Hora del Planeta” or “Earth Hour” from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

This will involve the outside of all public buildings in the municipality including Casa Fuerte, sports centres, tourism offices and the Costa Adeje Tourist Development Centre. For safety reasons, lighting will be minimised in the exterior of the police headquarters and public parks.

Earth Hour 2013 is being promoted by the international organisation WWF and is the largest call to action ever organised. It is meant to show that by working together, people can find part of the solution to climate change.

It is hoped that more than one billion people will get involed across 6,000 cities in the world by turning off lights in its main buildings and monuments.

The campaign is being publicised through the social network sites and on horad-elplaneta.es
