Dogs “used for fighting”
Police have seized two badly-neglected pitbull terriers which they believe were used for dog fighting.
The animals were found on the outdoor patio of a house in the Camino Toscal de Valle Jiménez area of La Laguna. It followed a 1-1-2 emergency call.
The dogs had no food, no water and showed signs of major neglect, including wounds, bruises and fleas and were very thin. Their surroundings were very dirty with lots of dog droppings which indicated they had been there for some time.
Following a court order, the pitbulls were seized by officers with the police ecological squad and taken to kennels.
The owner has since been charged with the criminal offence of neglect of animals and will face court action.
