Damages and robbery with force in Valverde, El Hierro PDF Print E-mail

Two youths, one of 19 and one of 20, were arrested under suspicion of damage to and robbery of a DVD film vending machine and a food vending machine, causing damages to the value of 2,300 euros. They were caught with DVD's and food products on their persons.

65 immigrants, including possibly up to 43 children, were intercepted by a boat from the Maritime Rescue Services yesterday minutes after they had been alerted by the island's Integrated Surveillance System (SIVE) who had spotted the boat about a quarter of a kilometre off the La Restinga area coastline. All of the immigrants were taken to a temporary shelter in the capital, Valverde while waiting for confirmation of the actual number of arrivals. Everyone appeared to be in good health.

The National Geographic institute reported an earthquake of 2.9 on the Richter scale off the coast of Sabinosa, Canary Islands in the small hours of the morning.
