A businessman has called on British Airways to review its policy of not allowing men to sit next to unaccompanied children on flights after being awarded a pay-out by the airline for sexual discrimination.
Mirko Fischer was enraged after BA staff ordered him to move back to his original seat after he swapped with his pregnant wife so that she could have a window seat, placing him next to an unaccompanied child.
He accused the airline by letter of contravening the Sex Discrimination Law as they would not have asked a female to move. He told a court later that BA made him feel like a potential child molester.
BA said it was company policy not to allow men to sit next to solo flying children but it would now review the policy. It is understood the airline paid out £2161 in costs and £750 in damages.
