Air Europa is re-launching its direct American flight this June, continuing the flight that operated at an occupancy level of over 80% in the last six months of 2009.
The route will fly every Saturday from June 19 running until 31 October. The flight will take just over seven hours and occupancy forecast is approximately the same volume of passengers as in 2009.
Head of Turismo de Tenerife José Manuel Bermúdez said that "the ultimate goal of launching this new route between Tenerife North Airport and Miami will be the promotion of Tenerife's tourism, economic, fiscal and business resources within the scope of influence of Miami-Dade County, as well as enhancing cultural exchange activities, tourism and economy."
Miami-Dade County has a population of 2,500,5000, and its media is expected to publish articles about Tenerife in the Miami Herald and El Nuevo Día, a Puerto Rican newspaper, each with a readership of more than one million readers. It is hoped that the publicity will attract people to use Miami as a base to go on to a European destination such as Tenerife.
Amor FM and La Kalle are two of the most important radio stations in the country broadcasting publicity for Tenerife, alongside Mega TV which has one of the largest amount of viewers.
In Miami itself, one hundred banners showing images of Tenerife will be posted in the main streets and remain there throughout the year, showing cultural, heritage, architecture, traditions, nature and a variety of leisure activities that Tenerife can offer its visitors.
Tour operator MkTravel will also promote Tenerife in the major events that take place during the year in Miami
