British holidaymakers are still in love with Spain, according to Monarch Airlines, which revealed that the country and its islands were the top sellers in a recent sale.
While Mallorca and Tenerife are the most popular destinations, Almeria, Ibiza and Fuerteventura have seen the biggest sales increases, with reservations up by 1,100%, 361% and 233% respectively compared to last year.
Cyprus has also been attracting interest from Monarch customers, with bookings for travel to the island up 165% year-on-year.
The operator also provides flights to Faro, Barcelona, Antalya and other popular destinations from the UK.
Monarch group spokesman Hugh Morgan said: 'Bookings for Spain and the Spanish islands were strong in summer 2010, so the increased demand that we are seeing this year is phenomenal and proof that the Brits' love affair with all things Spanish continues.'
The airline also announced this month that it would be offering more flights to Spain, Portugal and Cyprus in April to meet 'phenomenal' demand from travellers.
