Tenerife South Airport is to install a new tourist information office serving nearly 3,500,000 passengers a year who arrive at the airport, as well as a children's play area in the departure lounge.
The new office, to be located in the arrivals area outside the pedestrian zone, will be equipped with the latest technology to give tourists all the information they need to make the most of their holiday. Several large video screens will show images of the island and the various activities that take place there, and computer kiosks to allow visitors instant access to information rather than waiting in a queue.
The playground in the departure lounge, aimed at children between 3 and 12 years, will be freely accessible and contain various games such as climbing, sliding etc. making it easier and more fun for families while they are waiting to board. Its theme will be focused on the major tourist icons of the island: Teide, the Icod Dragon tree, Los Gigantes cliffs, sun, beaches, carnival, whales, etc.., all represented on the map of Tenerife.
Both projects are expected to be finished later this year.
