Staff, pupils and parents at the celebrated Colegio Casa Azul in the Orotava Valley have further good news.
This top quality private school  is run by parents as a co-operative, and they are thrilled by the success of students in the recent University of La Laguna examinations.
At a ceremony at the university, the 30 students who achieved the best results were formally honoured for their success. Some 3,826 boys and girls took part in the ULL entrance exams following completion of their school education.
Three students from the Casa Azul were among those 30 top achievers, a big achievement for a small school and, at ten per cent, the best achievement of any school in the province. They were Eva Rodríguez, David Emilio Rodríguez and Carmen Mandado.
This was unprecedented success for the college, backed up by the fact that 54% of the students obtained more than eleven points, the maximum for entrance to the various faculties being 14.
The ceremony of education excellence was chaired by Eduardo Domenech, current rector of the University, who stressed the importance of the Plan Bolonia education system for incorporating students into the employment system and in the lives of pupils, families and teachers.
Colegio Casa Azul describes these results as fantastic. During this school year, it achieved the fifth best average PAU score of all schools in the province of Tenerife and the best mark in the northern region. It all helps to motivate the team even more to work for the best for their pupils and for their future university life.
David, Eva and Carme were wished every success for their future.
Colegio Casa Azul caters for students from the age of three to 17. Parents have always been at the heart of the school since a group of them got together in 1973. They became partners and formed a co-operative to develop teaching activities at different levels and subjects, in any branch of knowledge or artistic form, as well as sport etc.
The ethos of this bi-lingual centre has always been to take students through the full cycle of their educational life, from primary level to high school, achieving high academic standards, a high level of English and incorporating modern technology.
