La Orotava school Inocencio Sosa Hernández wins a top Ministry of Education award

CreArte is a new honour which recognises excellent education practice throughout the school year in order to foster creativity.
The school won the Creative Learning Centre category for its ongoing project “One more country´s culture, two educational dreams.”
The idea was to combine the concepts of the 2009 European Year of Creativity and Innovation and the 2010 International Cultural Year. The school looked at different countries and different cultures and included practical workshops, learning and visits to museums and galleries.
Activities were changed once or twice a week and pupils could choose what they wanted to do and they studied everything from flags, cuisine, education and landscape to folklore, music, flaura and fauna.
It was not just knowledge about other countries and cultures which the youngsters gained but valuable lessons on how to prepare projects, self-discipline, presentation skills, how to work together, creativity etc.
