Dear Sir: I am somewhat surprised at Jeremy Taylor’s rather harsh criticism of the book reviews by Anne James (Tenerife News 442).

He obviously does not appreciate as many of us do, the insight which Anne gives on the books available at the English Library. Surely the purpose of reviewing books is to help the many clients who obviously have very varying tastes and to inform us of the variety of titles available.

We are not looking for a deep critical review of a book but information on the type and content.

The English Library is well used and enjoyed. We appreciate the effort put in by its many volunteers.
