Iberia praised for stepping in to help fill the gap left by the closure of Spanair.
The airline has moved particularly swiftly by offering 4,000 seats for travel to the islands for Carnival time. For this, Iberia has put on 24 additional flights, 14 for Tenerife and ten for Gran Canaria between February 14th and February 26th.
On board Airbus A319 and A320, with capacity for 141 passengers and 171 respectively, the company offers five daily flights each way between Tenerife and Madrid and five from Madrid to Gran Canaria, covering all time zones and allowing connections with Europe, Asia, America and the Middle East.
Following the closure of Spanair, Iberia has indicated there will be a 20% increase in its frequency to the Canary Islands, scheduling more flights for Madrid-Tenerife-Madrid and Madrid-Gran Canaria-Madrid.
For the summer season, which begins on March 25th, it will also increases its travel to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
The 4,000 extra seats at Carnival time has been hailed as excellent news by the tourism trade.
