Aránzazu Gutiérrez, director general of the Cooperación y Patrimonio Cultural is travelling to Abu Dhabi this week to support the nomination of La Gomera's Silbo whistling language.
La Gomera's Silbo has been presented as a national candidate, together with the Tribunal de las Aguas de Valencia and the Consejo de Hombres Buenos de Murcia. Meanwhile the Mediterranean Diet is being presented as a trans-national candidate, together with Greece, Italy and Morocco. These nominations were chosen by the autonomous regions belonging to the Consejo de Patrimonio Histórico at a meeting held on October 11, 2007.
At the meeting to be held by the committee of the Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la UNESCO, the first elements of the application will be recorded in the Lista del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad.
