Two weeks ago BinterCanarias baptized a new airplane into its current fleet in Fuerteventura in the presence of the top dignitaries from local government.

A 'name the plane' competition was organised through the internet and Baifo, put forward by Dimas Léon, was the most popular name voted for. "A name that in the Canaries we call the youngest goat in the family that is full of life and happiness."
During the 'baptism' a island cattle raiser dressed in typical clothing presented Binter's president,Pedro A. del Castillo with a genuine 'Baifo', and at the same time the airplane was given the same identification number of the first flight that connected BinterCanarias with Fuerteventura on March 26, 1989.... "NT 202".
This is the fleet's 19th airplane. an ATR 72-500, is an ecological and efficient model designed for regional routes, which besides respecting the environment, gives greater comfort to its passengers.
At present BinterCanarias is the youngest airline in the Archipelago but boasts the highest number of planes. Another plane is predicted to join the fleet in 2010.  This year BinterCanarias is celebrating its 20th anniversary since the original "NT 202" first made its first journey in connection with Fuerteventura. Today the airline offers 40 daily flights, including round trips.
