Would you like to experience something different in Tenerife, living here or on holiday? If so, Tenerife Cabildo probably has the answer: details have just been announced of the 17th Nature and Adventure Programme which will appeal to all ages and abilities.
You might opt for walking or hiking, star-gazing or rock climbing, orienteering or zip lining. Perhaps a descent down a barranco appeals or a route all the family can enjoy?
This popular initiative once again offers 1,000 places, including for the disabled, with prices ranging from 12 euros to 21 euros. As the Cabildo’s sports councillor Cristo Pérez says: “There are options for all people, regardless of their age or physical condition, as well as activities for all the family.”
The programme is structured in different levels depending on degree of experience and physical capabilities. Level one is for beginners and is suitable for people with any physical level and is accessible for disabled people. Level 2 requires an average physical condition while Level 3 needs high fitness. The special level is for those in superior physical shape.
Activities began last weekend with hiking in the Santiago del Teide area, followed by an adventure route in El Rosario.
On February 4th and 5th, there was hiking along Camino de Los Guanches in Altos de La Orotava and the Caboco de Alonso adventure route in Arico. On February 11th and 12th, you can take part in the Camino Real de Santiago hike and the Barranco del Pedregal adventure route in Arico.
There will be lots of activities in March throughout the island, including climbing and ziplining on the 3rd, hiking on the 4th, 10th, 25th and 31st, an adventure route on the 11th and canyoning on March 24th. In April, there will be the first star-gazing route on the 14th, more descents on the 1st, 15th, 22nd and 28th and walks on the 21st and 29th.
May will see walks on the 5th, 19th and 27th, adventure routes on the 6th and 20th and two barranco descents on the 13th and 26th. There will be further walks, adventure routes and canyoning in June and from the 16th, a fiesta of multi-activities in El Rosario.
The programme takes a break in July, August and September but returns in October with hiking, climbing, zip-lining, star-gazing, adventure and canyoning and various hiking routes in November in locations such as La Orotava, Arafo, Candelaria, Vilaflor and Teide National Park. There will also be sky routes.
Activities come to a close in December with adventure routes, walks and a Walking Fiesta in the Anaga Rural Park on the 16th.
