Throughout the world, the main day of dance was on April 19 but the Auditorium de Tenerife in Santa Cruz decided to dedicate a whole week. Better still, most of the activities were free.
The only performance for which tickets were required was given by Les SlovaKs, a company dedicated to what is being described as “new folk dance”.
The week saw all styles of dance, including hip-hop, urban dance, ballet, tango, flamenco and salsa. Members of the public were invited to have a go as well during special workshops for adults and children. Of particular interest was the introduction of a new element, flamenco workshops, which are helping to promote and keep alive this traditional Spanish style of dance.
