Some people are born with an artistic streak running through their veins and singing chef Paco is no exception.Paco is an artist in every sense of the word. He not only paints (and you can often see his creations on the wall), he cooks, he plays the guitar and he sings, both in Spanish and English. Fortunately for diners, he does most of these within Tasca Casa Paco in the centre of Los Cristianos.
When we popped into this charming little restaurant, Paco was cooking up a paella with such flair that it was as enjoyable to watch him as it was to taste the end result. Believe me, that paella was absolutely superb and the very best I have had, either here in Tenerife or on mainland Spain.
Paco is best likened to a maestro, conducting the kitchen and the restaurant with his son, also called Paco.
Eating here is a real experience because although you are in the hub of Los Cristianos, you do feel
as though you are away from commercialism and experiencing real Spanish cuisine.Paco’s delight in cooking fresh fish or a variety of tapas or a main plate is obvious. He uses his hands and arms above the huge cooking pots just like he was instructing an orchestra, fine deft movements which produce excellent food.
Tasca Casa Paco opened has become a very popular place for all nationalities, including the British.
Paco is very proud of his establishment and says he uses only fresh produce and wouldn't dream of using anything frozen. There are about 30 choices of dishes on the menu, in small, half or full portions, such as garlic chicken wings and scrambled egg with Spanish black pudding, together with meat and fish, and a wine list featuring 50 different varieties.
The best way to find the restaurant is to walk towards Los Cristianos town centre with the petrol station on your right. On the left, you will see the second Cepsa garage so cross over to this and you will find Tasca Casa Paco on the street by it.
