A competition was held in 15 schools to design a logo and poster for the new junior section of this event. It was won by Melissa Rudge of Parque de la Reina, with second prize going to Estefania Mejia from Las Palmas on Gran Canaria and Azenor Le Cleac’h from Lanzarote in third. The Music Festival included a section especially for children in its first edition and next year, this will be repeated in order to encourage youngsters to enjoy classical music. Admission for these concerts will be just 12 euros so all members of the family can attend. They will be held in all the islands and include puppetry, classical music and the Hansel and Gretel opera.
The main festival, in its 28th year, will encompass 57 concerts, the first in Las Palmas on January 10th and the final one on February 19th in Santa Cruz. Amongst those taking to the stage will be the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic. Tickets are already on sale from various locations, including the Teatro Leal in La Laguna and through www.generaltickets.com
