Beach-front transformation earns top award

 

The transformation of beaches and the sea-front in Guia de Isora has resulted in a top design award.

The local council says it is delighted and has announced there is more to come, with their ultimate goal being to link the coastal area with one large promenade.

A major sports facility in El Sauzal has seen further updating and improvements.

The artificial turf on the soccer field at the local sports centre has been replaced at a cost of 22,000 euros.

Hashish seized on power boat

Two men of foreign nationality were arrested by police after a power boat carrying drugs was intercepted near Gran Canaria.

It was spotted about four miles off the south coast of the island in the early hours of the morning.

Message in a bottle!

A bottle containing a message and dollar bill has been found in La Laguna six years after it was thrown into the sea in Florida.

It was spotted by lifeguards at the Bajamar pools and though the note inside was wet, it is just possible to work out an email address to respond to. The University of La Laguna is helping.

Dog park opens but owners urged to respect the rules

La Orotava’s special park for dogs has now formally opened.

The area covers 250 square metres and is located within the plaza Miguel Hernández in El Mayorazgo. It features logs for dog agility and a dispenser with bags so owners can collect excrement.
