Lanzarote runway must be extended as a priority

Island leaders on Lanzarote are pressing for an urgent meeting with the Spanish Government to discuss extending the airport runway.

They say the island is being put at a disadvantage because the runway for take-off and landings is only 2,400 metres long which precludes certain types of bigger aircraft. This in turn is hampering Lanzarote’s ambitions for further tourism growth.
