Bank robber broke in through ventilation duct

A man has been arrested in Gran Canaria for trying to rob a bank, using a ventilation duct to gain access.

Police say the 38-year-old man has numerous criminal records.

Officers caught him inside the bank, located in the San Fernando area of the tourist municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, after they went to the premises alerted by the anti-theft alarm.

The man, of Moroccan nationality, then tried to flee by entering a room through which he went to the roof, where he appeared moments later and was arrested.

He has been charged with a crime of robbery with force.
