Titsa takes possession of 30 new buses

Tenerife’s bus company TITSA has taken possession of 30 new buses, presented recently by the island’s Cabildo.

President of the Cabildo, Carlos Alonso, accompanied by the director-manager of the company Interurbanos Trans-port of Tenerife (TITSA), Jacobo Kalitovics, presided over the formal hand-over ceremony.

The 30 new buses will operate in different lines of the metropolitan area, north and south of the island. The budget for the purchase of this batch of vehicles amounts to 6.1 million euros.

The island president highlighted “the intense renewal process faced by TITSA in recent years.” In addition, he explained that these 30 “guaguas” correspond to the fourth lot of acquisition linked to the renewal of the fleet that concludes in 2019. He advanced that the fifth lot, which involves another 30 vehicles, will be incorporated in the first quarter of next year.

“With this last block, a total of 207 buses will be added to the company’s fleet in these years, which represents a renovation of almost 60% of the fleet,” he said.

The 30 new buses contribute in a special way to improve access to public transport for people with reduced mobility, since all of them have a low floor or lift platforms to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility.

The buses will be incorporated immediately to different lines in the metropolitan area and La Laguna as the 023 (Tacoronte-El Pris by El Calvario and Guayonje, 026, (Santa Cruz de Tenerife -La Laguna by La Salud and Finca Spain), and 027 (Santa Cruz de Tenerife-Health Alto-Finca Spain-La Laguna, as well as the 120 (Santa Cruz de Tenerife-Güímar for Candelaria and Puertito de Güímar).

Also, part of the new acquisitions will go to the lines that provide service in the south of the island, such as 416 (Granadilla de Abona-Los Cristianos), 418 (Costa Adeje-Valle San Lorenzo), 447 (Los Cristianos- Costa Adeje-El Cerco-Adeje Las Torres) and 450 (Costa Adeje-Los Cristia-nos Station-Reina Sofia-San Isidro Airport).

Likewise, the new vehicles will also be destined to northern lines such as 380 (La Corujera-Tigaiga by La Orotava), 381 (Plaza Reyes Catolicos-Punta Brava-La Longuera) and 382 (Plaza Reyes Católicos-Barrio San Antonio by Plaza del Charco and Mercado Puerto de la Cruz). In addition, four buses will be destined to line 111, which connects the Inter-change of Santa Cruz de Tenerife with Costa Adeje by the Reina Sofía Airport and Los Cristianos.
