Swimmer dies after rescue
Medics battled for more than 45 minutes to save the life of a man who was rescued from the sea in Gran Canaria but without success.
The tragedy happened in Puerto Rico in the municipality of Mogán in the mid-afternoon.
The 112 emergency control centre was told a man, in his 50s, had been pulled from the water after getting in to difficulty.
He was found to be in cardiorespiratory arrest and was treated by the lifeguard service and medics. Police, the Civil Guard and Civil Protection also went to the scene.
“SUC staff continued advanced cardiopulmonary maneuvers for 45 minutes but without success and confirmed his death,” said a 112 spokesman.
