More fibre optics for Granadilla
Granadilla council has pledged to bring fibre optics to more parts of the municipality during 2018.
A total of 4,610 households in the municipality already have coverage for the fibre optic service and in the coming year, a further one million euros will be spent to complete the project.
From September to January, the facilities have almost doubled, focusing mostly on the population centres of San Isidro, Granadilla de Abona, El Medano and Charco del Pino.
The Mayor of Granadilla de Abona, José Domingo Regalado, said it was in March of 2017 that the council had a meeting with the heads of the Telefónica company in order to have a fibre optic service in the municipality, given the significant population and business demand.
So far, this has led to an increase of zones in the centre of Granadilla, from 984 to 1,299 in the last three months; in San Isidro it has gone from 2,535 to 2,777, and the first 100 lines have also been placed in Charco del Pino.
“The deployment of this network is very good news for the municipality; we work to offer the best services that our residents demand, given the prominence of new technologies and the digital environment in a society like today. This measure, without doubt, benefits the population in general, but also the business sector and the Granadilla trade,” said the Mayor.
