Counting down to Vuelta al Teide
The second edition of the “Vuelta al Teide” continues its various stages and is now approaching its summit moment, the day of its celebration.
It is less than a month until the Tenerife municipality of Los Realejos becomes the neural-gic centre of the regional highway of cycling.
The “Marcha Ciclista”, which is developed in the form of a non-competitive event and will have participants of at least ten nationalities, will take its exit in the area of La Montaña de Los Realejos, at 7.30am on February 3rd and the fore-casts suggest that the first runners will begin to cross the finish line after 1.30pm., after completing the difficult journey of 163 kilometres and 4,200 positive slopes.
For this edition, the tour varies with respect to last year. In order to disturb least possible the rest of users of the routes through which the Vuelta al Teide will take place, a route has been prepared that will be developed on roads with little traffic flow. However, they still run along the most attractive landscapes of the island: Icod el Alto, Garachico, Masca, Santiago del Teide and Teide National Park.
The success of the first edition of the Vuelta al Teide, together with the refined organisation of 7Raid, which has some experience with other tests such as the Teide 360, has made the inscriptions almost exhausted in the two distances of the event which consists of the Vuelta al Teide (164 kilometres) and Vuelta al Teide (92 kilometres).
The inscriptions that are still available can be formalised through the web www.vue-ltaalteide.com . In addition, the delivery of dorsals has been scheduled for February 1st at the central facilities of Vadebicis in El Mayorazgo, La Orotava, while the day of the 2nd will be held in Los Realejos.
