Teenagers attend new innovation lab
The cultural centre of Los Cristianos has been hosting an innovation lab (INLab) for young people from 12 to 17 years old.
The objective of this activity, promoted by the Cabildo de Tenerife (through the area Tenerife 2030 and the scientific and technological park of Tenerife Intech) and with the collaboration of the Department of Youth of the City of Arona, is that participants learn skills such as teamwork, critical thinking and creative problem solving, all in a playful way, through the management of challenges and with the support of technological skills.
Councillor for the youth, sports and human eesources area of Arona council, Juan Sebastián Roque, and the Minister of Innovation and responsible for the strategy Tenerife 2030 of the Cabildo, Antonio García Marichal, visited the Arona laboratory, which It started on December 26th and had 20 participants.
García Marichal stressed that “the INLabs are actions included in the programming of the School of Innovation that the Science and Technology Park of Tenerife has launched.We will make a total of 30 free innovation laboratories during the current school year in the periods holidays, which include Christmas, Carnival, Easter and summer. “
“The aim of the INLab is for young people to become protagonists of their own learning, participating actively in the solution of the challenges through an innovative pedagogical model, they will grow personally through curiosity, research and their own creativity, motivating themselves the content and not only for the technology itself, ” he explained.
The fields that will be addressed in the innovation laboratories will be, among others, educational robotics, programming, 3D printing, the development and use of drones, digital communication and how to manage in a multidisciplinary environment.
