Spaniard strapped cocaine to legs
This drug smuggler went to extreme lengths to get a haul of cocaine through customs at a Spanish airport.
Police became suspicious of the 56-year-old man after he arrived at El Prat airport in Barcelona on board a flight from Sao Paulo in Brazil.
The passenger tried to deflect suspicion by appearing to be part of a holiday-making couple as he was accompanied by a 46-year-old woman from Azerbaijan.
But officers suspected they might be carrying drugs and initially searched their luggage. The eventually found the 56-year-old Spaniard had strapped bandages and sticky tape to his legs and thighs to hide eight packets of cocaine, weighing 2,703 grams in total.
The Civil Guard and Tax Agency arrested both the man and woman for a crime against public health.
