The Golden Mile of Playa de Las Americas became a celebration of running on December 31st, courtesy of the second San Silvestre Golden Mile.

From 3pm in the afternoon, the circuit was full of runners, family and tourists to encourage the little ones who disputed their particular San Silvestre.

Some 800 runners, adults and children alike, gathered for this second edition of the race where Jairo Pérez for the men and Jennifer Delgado in the women’s category crossed the finish line in first position.

At 4m, there was the start of the five-kilometre race that went through the urban area of the Golden Mile, where about 500 runners set out to finish this race, which fulfilled the goal of saying goodbye to the year doing sports with the family and in an environment dressed for the occasion.

In the absolute classification, in masculine, the winner was Jairo Pérez with a time of 16:31 followed by Joyce Manuel Medina, Barcelo Team with a time of 16:32. In third position and with a time of 16:48 was Dionisio Guillen of the club Triabona. In the women’s category the winner was, with a time of 19:00, Jennifer Delgado of Avutarda Maxiroga club, the second position went to the Finnish Anni Hemminki 19:39 awith Ana Boullon Sabin on 20:09 from CD Vallivana completing the podium. The best celebs were Joyce Manuel Medina and Guacimara Hernández.

The awards ceremony was attended by the sports councillor of Arona, Juan Sebastián Roque, who also participated in the event, accompanied by several municipal councillors, the veteran athlete Emilio Lentini and the representative of the Golden Mile, José Fernando Cabrera. The test was organised by the City of Arona through its Municipal Sports Board, together with the Department of Tourism, the Golden Mile of Playa de Las Americas, the Athletics Club Arona and the Sports Commission Grupasca.

The test was enlivened by the music of Dj Rafael Miguel and it is worth noting the number of high level athletes from several European countries and different athletic disciplines, who took the exit of this awaited second edition of the San Silvestre Golden Mile of Playa de Las Americas.
