Police seize thousands of fireworks
Police have seized more than 3,000 pyrotechnics, including firecrackers, which were openly being sold in a Canary supermarket.
Agents of the Fiscal and Border Patrol (PAFIF) of the Civil Guard of Lanzarote raided a food store in the town of Arrecife which was selling the items without authorisation.
A police spokesman said there had been no warning signs alerting customers to an age limit even though the products were of classes I, II and III, presenting “a medium risk to users” who must be 18 years of age to purchase them.
In all, 20 kilograms of pyrotechnic products, with a total of 3053 elements of different types and classes, were confiscated.
The owner will face a fine for what is described as a serious offence.
