Playgrounds in Guia de Isora to be upgraded in rolling project
The increase in the child population and the demand for new spaces for leisure have meant that Guia de Isora council is launching a plan to improve the children’s parks in the municipality.
Guía de Isora has 32 playgrounds, of which 75 per cent are more than a decade old. Some of these parks presented a state of notable deterioration and were tackled during the first phase of the project.
With an investment of around 50,000 euros, the El Pinillo park is now being reopened again. The work has involved a change of the paving, renovation of furniture and elimination of those elements that impeded accessibility.
“This was one of the most deteriorated parks and most demanded by residents in the centre. Now we will continue with those of El Almendro, Cueva del Polvo, Alcala, Playa de San Juan, etc., until we have renewed all the playgrounds of the municipality, “said councillor for urban planning, José Miguel Mesa.
The complete inauguration of the new Varadero park in the coming months is also planned, as well as the new Las Salinas park in Playa San Juan.
With the budget of 2018, the project to reform all the playgrounds contemplates an investment of 280,000 euros, in addition to the 285,000 euros that the consistory invested last year in improvements to several children’s spaces and in the construction of the Aveti park in Tejina de Isora.
Street furniture such as benches are also being replaced in various locations.
