Man dies in hang-gliding crash

A 32-year-old man has died after suffering a hang-glider accident in Lanzarote.

A spokesman for the 112 emergency control centre said he was of Spanish nationality.

A full-scale rescue mission was launched following reports that the hang-glider had crashlanded on cliffs in the area of Las Nieves in Teguise. It involved the police, Civil Guard, medics, Civil Protection, fire crews and the emergency helicopter which located the accident site.

Sadly, when a doctor reached the victim, he had already died.
