Guia de Isora becomes cardio-protected municipality
Guia de Isora has been transformed into a cardioprotected municipality.
The second phase of the placement of defibrillators with 14 units is now completed.
“Being a cardioprotected municipality is important, since we guarantee the safety of our residents and those who visit us. In cases of emergency, an immediate response to any cardiorespiratory arrest can save lives, “says health councillor Francisco Baute.
The second phase focused on areas of high influx of residents such as the council headquarters in Guía de Isora, the beaches of Alcalá and Playa San Juan and especially sensitive areas such as cemeteries. The death of a person in San Miguel de Abona during a funeral by cardiorespiratory arrest has motivated that these tools are also available in these municipal facilities.
Council staff have been trained in the use of the heart machines.
These new facilities are also in the auditorium, the cultural centre of Guía de Isora, the cultural centre of Alcalá, the Young Creation and Training Centre in Playa San Juan (SAC of the coastal zone); Guía de Isora Occupational Centre (in Playa San Juan), a portable DESA for the Local Police that is added to the one already in its headquarters and the soccer fields of Guía de Isora, Chío, Agua Dulce and Alcalá.
The council’s health department has also invested a budget item to improve the first aid kits of the centre of the municipality. The centres of Guía de Isora centre, Tejina, Alcalá, Chiguergue, Chío and Playa San Juan now have, in addition to the necessary first aid in a center of their characteristics, with a tensiometer, glucometer and pulse oximeter.
