Consortium makes plans for El Rincón improvements
The General Council of the El Rincón Consortium in La Orotava has approved the budget for 2018, amounting to 1,358,301 euros.
This amount is the result of adding the contributions for the coming year of the Government of the Canary Islands (270,000 euros), the Cabildo de Tenerife (150,000 euros), the City of La Orotava (150,000 euros) and what remained for 2017.
Likewise, the management report of 2017 was approved, which includes the actions carried out, which have focused, as a priority, on the drafting of the projects that they intend to carry out in 2018.
The report also includes the result of the open participatory process to give voice to the citizen groups, collect their proposals and knowing their priorities for action.
In this process, which began in August 2016 and ended in February 2017, meetings were held with different groups and concluded with the preparation of a catalogue of proposals. These include the launching of an experimental programme of tourism and educational initiatives; beautification actions and infrastructure improvement; the installation of an irrigation network and the creation of a technical advisory service on agricultural matters.
Some of the proposals of citizen groups have mate-rialised in concrete initiatives this year. This is the case of the Mobility Plan Project, ne-cessary to solve the agglo-meration of vehicles that occurs in the area, especially during the summer, and which causes problems for residents and farm workers to access farms and homes. In this sense, the Consortium already has the El Rincón Sustainable Mobility Plan, which will be shared, for its future application, with the sectors involved, such as the public company Titsa and the group of taxi drivers, among others.
