Canary 112 service recognised for technologicAL advances

The 112 emergency service of the Canary Islands has received the 2017 ACITICS award for the use of telecommunications in its work.

The accolade is granted each year by the Canary Association of Engineers and Graduates in Information and Communication Technologies and the Official College of Telecommunications Techni-cal Engineers of the Canary Islands.

The presentation took place during the celebration of the ICT Day, organised by this association, which this year looked at the role of women in the technology sector, in the meeting called “The digita-lisation with another look”, held in Tenerife.

The award was received by the manager of the public company Services Manage-ment for Health and Safety and the Canary Islands (GSC), Luis Rodríguez Neyra, and the head of the Information and Communication Technology Unit of the company, which manages the 1 -1-2, Carlos Rosa Remedios.

The 112 service has been involved in continuous technological improvements of its service since 2010 to improve the management of calls and speed up response times.
