Entries for San Silvestre Lagunera shoot past 1,000 mark
La Laguna’s annual night race on New Year’s Eve has already surpassed the 1,000-mark in entries.
The XXXVI San Silvestre Lagunera on December 31st promises to be as spectacular as ever and will also attract a huge crowd of spectators.
The event is organised by the sports department of Aguere council with the route passing through its historic centre.
There is a limit of 3,000 runners and entries can be made right up to 8pm on December 21st.
Runners must pay the amount of eight euros which includes technical shirt, chip, bib and accident insurance.
This San Silvestre starts at 6pm along the traditional urban circuit through the historic centre of Aguere, on a route of 5,700 metres, with start and finish at the Plaza de la Concepción.
For the third consecutive year, supporters will be able to follow the San Silvestre Lagunera on the small screen, courtesy of Televisión Canaria.
Agoney Díaz (17.23, Bikila) and Marta Arnay (19.49, CEAT) won the San Silvestre Lagunera 2016.
Some 3,000 runners took part in the last edition of the last sports event of the year in the Canary Islands.
