Celebrate Christmas with the fifth edition of Puerto’s Bach Festival
The Reyes Bartlet cultural association is celebrating the fifth edition of the Puerto de la Cruz Bach Festival which started on December 9th and continues until January 5th.
As well as marking a milestone birthday of its own, the event is paying homage to the music of Italian composer Claudio Monteverdi, born 450 years ago.
The association has been carrying out intense work in Puerto de la Cruz for 40 years and this is reflected in the Bach Festival which has become increasingly popular for locals and tourists alike.
The festival, as in previous editions, lends a special interest in the formation and contextualization of the time and is enriched with didactic concerts, musical interpretation courses, exhibitions and guided tours.
The programme was presented at Puerto town hall in the presence of the Mayor, Lope Afonso; the CEO of Tourism of Tenerife, Vicente Dorta; councillor for tourism, Dimple Melwani; manager of the Reyes Bartlet Cultural Association, Marina Velázquez; and the vice president of the CIT, Santiago Rodríguez.
Sr. Afonso said this fifth edition of the Bach Festival showed the cultural potential of Puerto and was proving more successful every year.
Vicente Dorta said the event formed part of the marketing plan to “position Puerto de la Cruz as a reference within the cultural environment of the island.”
Marina Velázquez said she was delighted at the response to this fifth edition and welcomed the Academia de los Afectos as resident group once again.
From the tourist point of view, area councillor Dimple Melwani stressed the fact that Puerto was hosting the festival at a favourable time, since in the month of December the municipality registered an “occupation of 90% and with forecasts of reaching the absolute “, allowing music to approach” a very broad target of people “.
