Wine takes over La Laguna for 14th Tacoronte-Acentejo festival
Vino is taking centrestage as the 14th edition of the November Wine Month Tacoronte – Acentejo begins.
Councillor for rural development, Antonio Pérez-Godiño has described the event as “a reference event for La Laguna” and good support is hoped for.
Activities began on November 4th with La Laguna’s White Night and continue until November 30th with the monumental Noche en Tinto.
The launch was attended by representatives of the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Tacoronte-Acentejo wine, President Esteban Reyes and the manager of the entity María Paz Gil, as well as Héctor Hernández, area director of the CAJAMAR financial institution -collaborator in this edition – and the artist who illustrated the poster of this 2017 programme, Víctor Jaubert.
This 14th edition of the Tacoronte-Acentejo Wine Month in La Laguna will combine the great variety of Tacoronte-Acentejo wines with interesting cultural proposals. Once again, the local council of Aguere, together with the Tacoronte-Acentejo Regulatory Council and other public and private institutions, are joining forces to promote the culture of wine in the municipality and in the pioneer wine region of the Canary Islands.
The programme contains numerous proposals for all types of audiences at very varied times. There is a book launch, chess tournament, monologues, humour, a cartoonist, opera, a walk through the vineyards and chestnut trees, a workshop on Canarian gastronomic products, wine tasting and other gastronomic proposals.
The last weekend of the month will also see a “total madness” initiative in which for each bottle consumed in Tacoronte-Acentejo in any of the participating establish-ments, the consumer will pay half of the price of said bottle.
In this edition, 45 stores from La Laguna are decorating their windows with wine motifs. In addition, more than 20 commercial premises of the municipality are organising various events with Tacoronte-Acentejo wines and varied gastronomic and cultural proposals.
Those participating are Tasca El Tonique, Malvasía Enoteca, Taberna Ossuna, Taberna El Remojo, Mesón La Hijuela, Taberna Santo Domingo, Los Tarajales-Casa Felipe, Vinoteca La Reserva, Restaurante Casa Domingo, Restaurante La Cordera de Josué Mendoza, EliRomm Café, La Cava de Aguere, El Cochino Negro, Tasca La Topa, Café Vórtice, La Venta de La Esquina, Tasca La Carpintería, Cofradía-La Laguna, La Tasca de Cristian, Makro La Laguna, Librería Lemus, Multicines Tenerife, Club Laguna-Cotelec and the Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País de Tenerife.
The territorial scope of the different activities will be developed, in addition to the historic centre and the quadrilateral, in Los Majuelos, Las Mercedes and Bajamar. All the acts will count with the wines of the wineries of the pioneer denomination of origin in the archipelago: Tacoronte-Acentejo.
