Toddler rescued from pool

Swift action and expert help saved a small child from drowning in a pool in Fuerteventura.

An emergency call to the 112 control centre in the early afternoon reported that the five-year-old had been pulled from the water with “moderate” symptoms of near drowning.

Medics and the police were immediately sent to the scene, a hotel in the district of La Oliva but pending their arrival, a doctor gave resuscitation advice over the phone to a lifeguard.

The toddler was then transferred to the Corralejo Health Centre.
