Romeo and Juliet arrives in Icod de los Vinos
“Magnificent”, “back to the magic of the 16th century” and “an unprecedented show” were some of the public’s comments when Icod de los Vinos became Verona for an interpretation of the famous “Romeo and Juliet”.
The town hosted the performance of William Shakespeare’s tragedy by Burka Theater, taking as scenarios such emblematic places as the steps of Andrés de Lorenzo Cáceres square, the interior and exterior of the exconvent of San Francisco and La Pila plaza.
Two iconic actors, César Yánes and Tairuma Méndez, played the role of Romeo and Juliet in a memorable performance that captured a lot of attention and the applause of the crowd.
All ages followed the dozen or so actors as they moved through the streets as part of the theatrical performance.
