Pigeon with mobile on its back found in prison
Prisoners in Tenerife II have been flying in drugs and mobile phones using a carrier pigeon, it is being claimed.
According to Spanish newspaper Diaro de Avisos, a bird was found in the grounds exhausted because a mobile phone had been tied to its back.
The pigeon was discovered by guards at the prison who had already suspected this was happening.
Diario de Avisos says another bird had earlier been found in the prison but was carrying nothing so officers weren’t sure if it had been used yet or not.
The birds are apparently being used to fly contraband or messages both in and out of the prison, it is claimed.
In May, a package containing drugs and mobile phones was found in the prison yard after being thrown over the Wall.
